PANews reported on May 4 that American investor Warren Buffett announced at the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting that he plans to retire at the end of the year, shocking shareholders present. Buffett said he would recommend to the Berkshire Hathaway board of directors that Greg Abel, vice chairman of non-insurance businesses, take over as CEO at the end of the year, saying he believed the time was right for Greg to serve as the company's CEO. According to the Associated Press, Buffett announced the news after a five-hour question-and-answer session and did not answer any related questions.
