Japanese and South Korean stock markets both closed up more than 1%, ending at record highs.

PANews reported on January 6th that the Nikkei 225 index closed up 685.28 points, or 1.32%, at 52,518.08 on Tuesday, January 6th, a record closing high; financial stocks led the gains. The South Korean KOSPI index closed up 67.87 points, or 1.52%, at 4,525.39 on Tuesday, January 6th, marking its first time surpassing 4,500 points.
