PANews reported on January 5th that the Nikkei 225 index surged 3.00% intraday, currently trading at 51,850.07 points. The South Korean KOSPI index is currently up 3%, at 4,437.99 points.
Japanese and South Korean stock indices both extended their gains to 3% intraday.
