PANews reported on January 21 that the Nikkei 225 index opened down 718.60 points, or 1.36%, at 52,272.50 on Wednesday, January 21. The South Korean KOSPI index opened down 74.42 points, or 1.52%, at 4,811.33 on Wednesday, January 21.
Japanese and South Korean stock markets opened more than 1% lower.
