Ukrainian man arrested for hacking into servers for mining, involving more than $4.4 million

PANews reported on June 5 that according to Cointelegraph, the Ukrainian National Police reported the arrest of a 35-year-old man, accusing him of hacking into more than 5,000 customer accounts of an international hosting company since 2018, using its servers to deploy virtual machines for crypto mining, causing the company to lose more than 18.5 million hryvnias (about 4.4 million U.S. dollars). The police seized computer equipment, wallets and hacking tools at his residence. The man faces up to 15 years in prison and a ban on related industries, and the case is still under further investigation.
