South Dakota and Kentucky lawmakers to introduce Bitcoin reserve legislation

PANews reported on January 29 that according to a statement on January 28, legislators in Kentucky and South Dakota are preparing to propose legislation to establish Bitcoin reserves in the coming weeks.

South Dakota Rep. Logan Manhart announced that he will introduce a bill in the South Dakota House of Representatives to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve, adding that this is “one of the few opportunities” for the government to take the initiative.

Meanwhile, Kentucky Rep. T.J. Roberts said he would introduce similar legislation in his first week back in the General Assembly.

Wyoming and Massachusetts are understood to be the two most recent of the eight states to have introduced Bitcoin-related legislation since December 2024.
