PANews reported on May 28 that according to CoinDesk, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Trump, revealed at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference that after the family was blocked from banking services for political reasons, he and his younger brother Eric pushed his father to change his position on cryptocurrency. Trump Jr. said that the experience of the family business being "completely blocked" (interruption of banking, insurance and other services) after 2016 made him realize the fragility of the traditional financial system. Although Trump called Bitcoin a scam in 2021, he "quickly understood the technology" after the explanation of his two brothers. He mocked politicians such as Vice President Harris for following the trend to support cryptocurrency, and said that financial democratization is one of the core goals of this administration.
Although crypto projects such as the meme coin TRUMP issued by the Trump family have been criticized for their lack of transparency, Trump Jr. believes that current regulatory developments such as stablecoin legislation will boost Bitcoin's rise.
