Trump pressures Congress with voter identity bill, creating uncertainty for the crypto CLARITY bill.

PANews reported on March 10th, citing CoinDesk, that US President Trump threatened not to sign any other bills until Congress passes his priority voter identification bill. This stance introduces uncertainty into the CLARITY bill, a crypto market structure bill currently awaiting Senate approval. Trump stated at a Republican convention in Florida that he was willing to wait until the CLARITY bill is passed before signing any other laws.

Trump's SAVE America Act aims to set new hurdles for voting in the United States, including identity verification, citizenship verification requirements, and strict restrictions on mail-in ballots. He claims the bill will secure a Republican advantage in the midterm elections. The bill has already passed the House of Representatives, but faces obstacles in the Senate. The CLARITY Act, a long-standing policy goal advocated by the crypto industry, is currently being negotiated by the Senate Banking Committee.
