PANews reported on June 3rd that, according to The Block, a new political action committee, Defend Developers PAC, has been formed in the crypto industry, focusing on promoting legal protection for blockchain software developers. Initiated by executives and policy leaders from institutions such as the DeFi Education Fund, the Solana Policy Institute, and Uniswap Labs, the organization advocates for the Clarity Act and its Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) to explicitly define non-custodial developers as "transferors of funds," thereby exempting them from related licenses and anti-money laundering obligations. Previously, in an effort to gain Democratic support, the Senate version of the bill removed some extended protections related to sanctions under the Bank Secrecy Act, raising concerns among law enforcement agencies about the increased difficulty of combating financial crime. Defend Developers PAC plans to support members of Congress who actively advocate for developer exemptions and decentralized infrastructure.
