Malta Financial Services Authority publishes DeFi discussion paper, seeks industry feedback

PANews, June 18 – According to Crowdfund Insider, the Malta Financial Services Authority released a DeFi discussion paper on June 17, aiming to gather insights into this emerging sector and reinforce Malta’s position as a digital finance hub. The paper analyzes the interaction between decentralized systems and MiCA rules, explores novel organizational frameworks such as software-driven entities and fully decentralized governance, and examines the possibility of introducing segregated cell company structures within the DeFi environment. It also discusses the impact of account abstraction technology on governance, compliance, and user experience, emphasizing the balance between encouraging innovation and addressing accountability, system resilience, consumer protection, and financial crime risks. Stakeholders may submit feedback by July 10.
