Israeli Finance Minister Says Army Will Station in Lebanon Security Zone for Years

PANews, June 22 — Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich stated that Israeli forces will be stationed in a security zone inside Lebanon for "several years" and will not withdraw even if the United States demands a pullout, unless Hezbollah completes its disarmament. Smotrich said this position represents the joint stance of Netanyahu and the Defense Minister, and confirmed that a permanent military base will be established in the security zone. Meanwhile, Iran stated that the "conflict de-escalation coordination mechanism" in Lebanon is the "first major test" of the new agreement, and Iran will not implement the relevant roadmap until Israel fully withdraws its troops.
