Vance Says Coordination Mechanism Established to Prevent Escalation of Middle East Situation

PANews, June 22 — U.S. Vice President Vance delivered a speech in Switzerland. Vance stated that the United States has established a relevant coordination mechanism to prevent further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, and said that the mechanism has begun to show results, with the situation in Lebanon easing recently. Vance said that if the conflict continues to escalate, it will not only fail to help all parties safeguard their own security, but may instead harm the overall security situation in the region. Therefore, the U.S. side has established communication and coordination mechanisms with relevant parties to ensure that the situation does not deteriorate further. Vance stated that, judging from recent developments, the mechanism has already achieved initial results. “Over the past 24 hours, the situation in Lebanon has been one of the calmest periods in recent times, and the situation in the preceding 24 hours was also relatively stable.”

He also said that once the United States agrees to unfreeze Iranian assets, those assets could be used to purchase U.S. soybeans, corn, and wheat.
