Strait of Hormuz traffic recovers to nearly 60% of pre-war levels

PANews June 25 news, according to Xinhua News Agency, S&P Global Energy reported that on the 24th, 78 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz, setting a new single-day record since the outbreak of the Iran conflict. The average daily transit volume this month has recovered to about 57% of the pre-conflict level, with a cumulative total of 551 vessels passing through, potentially making this the month with the highest transit volume since the conflict began. The transiting vessels include both ships previously stranded by the conflict and recent incoming and outgoing ships, indicating an initial normalization of shipping activity. The rebound in transits is related to the activation of a new southern shipping lane by Oman and the International Maritime Organization, with 33 vessels using that lane on the 24th. However, Iran is requiring ships to use only its approved northern lane and to obtain passage permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, adding further uncertainty to the situation.
