A US nonprofit group calls on government officials to investigate Trump's promotion of memecoin

PANews reported on February 6 that according to Cointelegraph, the US consumer advocacy organization Public Citizen called on US government officials to investigate Trump's promotion of his memecoin on social media.

On February 5, the citizens’ group sent a letter to John Keller, head of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, and David Huitema, director of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), accusing Trump of violating the law by accepting gifts while serving as president of the United States. The group urged officials to investigate the TRUMP memecoin and whether foreign government actors may have purchased the token.
