Australian regulators warn of a surge in complaints about Grok's alleged misuse of AI images.

PANews reported on January 9th that, according to Decrypt, Australia's eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, stated that the number of complaints regarding Grok, Elon Musk's AI model, generating involuntary gendered images has doubled compared to the end of 2025, with some involving child pornography. Grok's "Spicy Mode" feature has been accused of contributing to the abuse of AI deepfakes and has been deemed illegal by the European Union. Grant emphasized that, according to Australian regulations, platforms must strengthen oversight of AI-generated content, and eSafety will conduct an investigation and take legal action.
